6 Tips to Staying Fit During the Holidays

The holidays are upon us which means lots of eating, lots of drinking and a packed social calendar which may prevent us from hitting the gym. Today I am sharing 6 easy ways to not end up looking like Santa by the time New Years rolls around.

1. Indulge for a night, not a season. The holiday season is weeks long. If you indulge and binge eat during the entire season you’re sure to pack on the lbs. Instead, treat yourself on the actual holidays and during the weekends when at holiday parties, but during the week stick to a healthy diet.

2. Stay hydrated! Not only will it help prevent the holiday party hangovers, but a large glass of water before a meal can help lessen the amount of food you consume.

3. Try everything but eat nothing. When your at a holiday party or at a Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner try a little bit of everything but there’s no need to finish everything. Try one bite of each appetizer and a small spoonful of all the fixings. There’s no need to go back for seconds or thirds or to lick your plate clean.

4. Cut the rug! If there’s dancing at any of the many parties you’ll be attending join in! Dancing is a great and fun way to burn calories.

5. If you’re traveling or going on vacation, explore a new city on foot or bike instead of in a car or by public transportation.

6. Treat yourself! Not to that extra slice of pumpkin pie, but to new gym clothes. New gym clothes are a great way to motivate yourself into heading out for a workout! Keep reading to see my favorite active wear pieces!
