“To travel is to live.” -Hans Christian Andersen
As many of you know, Walker finished law school earlier this summer and also took the bar. To celebrate these accomplishments, I decided to take him on a nice bar trip. I had no idea where we should go though, until some of my friends told me of their recent vacations in the tropical paradise that is Belize. While doing some research for the trip I stumbled upon Ka’Ana Resort in San Ignacio, Belize. I instantly fell in love and I am happy to say that this love at first sight was true.
Ka’Ana was the consummate host and made our stay truly wonderful. The resort hosted us for four nights in one of their master suites and we honestly could not have been more pleased. Indeed, every aspect of our stay reflected the exclusive and unique service Ka’ana is known for.
One happy hour featured cocktails made with fresh fruit and herbs from their own organic garden on site. Our tours through the Mayan ruins were private, which allowed us to explore these historical marvels at our own pace and have the full attention of the incredibly knowledgeable guides the resort provided. Finally, the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We loved sitting outside on our private deck watching Toucans fly from tree to tree, while sipping fresh Guatemalan coffee delivered only minutes after it was ordered.

The experience at the resort was matched only by the adventures that awaited us in the beautiful surrounding countryside. While staying at the Ka’ana resort we took two unforgettable excursions: one to Peten, Guatemala and another to the local ruins of Xunantunich. Not many resorts can boast of their proximity to a UNESCO Heritage Site and our trip just over the Belizean border to the beautiful ruins of Tikal proved an unforgettable experience.

Likewise, our trip by horseback to the nearby ruins of Xunantunich was nothing short of exceptional. Ka’ana provided first-class service and guides through every step of these adventures. After our trip to Xunantunich, we enjoyed a romantic picnic on the beautiful Mopan River with just the two of us and our server. Trust me, we were pinching ourselves and hoping this was not a dream.

Stay tuned, because next week I will be sharing more photos and even a mini video of our vacation with you plus a play by play of all four of our magical days at the exquisite paradise of Ka’Ana.
Kisses and traveling wishes,
