Walker and I recently visited San Antonio to celebrate my birthday and we had to best time!  Today I am sharing where to go, where to stay, where to eat, where to drink and what to do when in San Antonio.

where to stay: Hotel Contessa
Hotel Contessa is in an amazing location right on the River Walk, where very room is a suite! Very clean, adorably decorated and friendly and accommodating staff. We were able to walk to The Alamo, Cathedral of San Fernando and most of our meals from the hotel.

where to go: The Alamo, Cathedral of San Fernando and The Pearl District
The Alamo is a MUST see if you’re in San Antonio. We also loved the beautiful San Fernando Cathedral. On Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 9, 9:30 and 10pm there is an art show where works by artist Xavier De Richemont are projected in lights onto the cathedral tell the story of San Antonio from its beginning to today. The show lasts about 25 minutes and is a must see! The Pearl District is about a 10 minute drive from downtown San Antonio. Here there are great restaurants, shops, yoga in the park and more!

where to drink: The Esquire Tavern, The Boiler House, High Street Wine Co., Paramour and The Brooklynite
The Esquire Tavern is the oldest bar in San Antonio and was opened the day prohibition was appealed. Great mint juleps, great friend pickles and great tunes! The Boiler House is an industrial-chic restaurant and bar with a fun historic vibe. High Street Wine Co. is an adorable wine bar with a great patio. We each got a different flight and tried some delicious wines. Paramour is a roof top bar with killer city views. The Brooklynite is a bar with a vintage vibe and modern twists on classic cocktails.

where to eat: Bella on the River, Cured, Rebelle, Acenar, and Southerleigh
Bella on the River is a charming little restaurant right on the River Walk. Amazing food and a great wine list! Their mussels and also their red fish are a must! Cured is a rustic-chic restaurant serving charcuterie-focused cuisine and signature craft cocktails. The lamb tartare is melt in your mouth fabulous! Rebelle, located in the St. Anthony Hotel, is a swanky eatery featuring upscale American cuisine. If Barbie and Dracula had a love child it would be this restaurant! Acenar is a great Mexican spot right on the River Walk with strong margaritas and delish guac! Southerleigh is a great brunch spot located next door to Hotel Emma.  I recommend their shrimp cocktail, pineapple cocktail and their oysters.
