Last week my mom, Lulu and I went on a great girls’ trip to Colorado Springs for some fun in the sun and some R&R! Keep reading for a full recap of our amazing stay at Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
Day 1 in Colorado Springs:
After a scenic drive from the Denver airport to Colorado Springs, we arrived at the breathtaking Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs for a fun and relaxing girls’ trip- me, mom and Lulu.
We took in the hotel’s rustic yet luxurious cabin vibe and check in was a breeze. Lulu even got a welcome gift from the resort!
We arrived to our room and the views could not have been more amazing! We thought we knew what we were in for after viewing the resort’s website, but the photo gallery didn’t hold a candle to the real thing. With views of both the Rocky Maintains and the property’s lake, we knew we would be spending a lot of time on our balcony attempting to take all of it in.
Starving, we decided to have lunch at the resort’s Colorado inspired restaurant and bar, Elevations. Elevations offers seasonal a menu incorporating ingredients from nearby farms, ranches, breweries and distilleries. We started with black bean hummus served with fresh warm pita and sliced veggies. Next we split a club wrap with French fries. The fries were out of this world! The perfect blend of salty and crispy.
Next, we walked down to The Country Club of Colorado at Cheyenne Mountain Resort to relax at the lake. As a guest of Cheyenne Maintain Resort, during your stay you have full access to the beautiful country club and all of its amenities.
We relaxed on the lake’s beach and enjoyed the magical views and warm Colorado sun.
Once well sunned and relaxed we explored the beautiful amenities of The Country Club and the resort.
Set in the most beautiful and serine environment with breathtaking views of the Rockies, The Country Club of Colorado features a wide range of recreational facilities and leisure activities. Home to a newly renovated Pete Dye championship golf course, a 35-acre beachfront private lake, resort style pools, a luxurious spa, fitness center and tennis courts, The Country Club of Colorado has something for everyone! You can also rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boards, all free of charge!
Cheyenne Mountain Resort is a four-diamond resort known for its breathtaking mountain views, exceptional accommodations and hometown hospitality. It also boasts Colorado fresh cuisine at its restaurants, a general store and coffee shop, a business center, event venues both indoor and out, and a list a couple miles long of activities available for its guests. Though we came for a girls’ trip the Cheyenne Mountain Resort would also be a perfect vacation destination for families as well. They even offer a Kidz Camp! Bring Fido along too, because Cheyenne Mountain Resort is dog friendly.
We returned to our room to a sweet and thoughtful surprise of champagne and cotton candy for my mom and I and doggie treats for Lu. We put on our robes, made ourselves some cotton candy champagne cocktails and played cards on our beautiful patio until it was time to get ready for the evening’s festivities.
We decided to start our night out on the resort’s deck. We sipped on wine and basked in the beautiful views of the Rockies.
After finishing our wine, we were off to downtown Colorado Springs for dinner, only a few minutes from the resort.
If staying on property is more your style, Cheyenne Maintain Resort also offers a themed buffet dinner every night at their signature dining establishment, Mountain View Restaurant. Some of the themed dinners include Mediterranean Marketplace, Pacific Rim, Italian Rendezvous and Latin Beat.
After a short Uber ride, we arrived at The Rabbit Hole- a new American eatery crafting creative bites & cocktails in a sleek and eclectic subterranean environment. We sipped on wine in the underground restaurant and started with mussels and a watermelon salad. For our main course, we split bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed shrimp on a bed of creamy polenta. Yum!
After dinner we returned to the resort and had a peaceful and restful night’s sleep.
Day 2 in Colorado Springs:
On our first full day at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we woke early and enjoyed our coffee al fresco on our patio.
Once caffeinated, we hit the lake for a paddle board yoga class. It was one of the most amazing experiences my mom and I have ever had. Being out on the water surrounded by nature and taking a yoga class was the perfect way to start out day! Our instructor, Kim, was so knowledgeable and made our hour long class below the Rockies so enjoyable and exciting, as the birds soared above us.
After yoga, we were off to the spa to relax, unwind and escape! Alluvia Spa is perfect for couples, girlfriends and mothers and daughters, offering shared spa experiences with beautiful treatment rooms for two and a choice of indoor and outdoor spa environments. Alluvia also offers an inviting relaxation room with tea and fruit infused water, a private outdoor patio complete with mountain views and an inviting fire place, locker rooms, whirl pool and a steam room.
We started our spa day off in the steam room then unwound in the relaxation room before our appointments. We both opted for the Hydro-Boost facial. This 50 minute facial includes double hydration treatments using unique forms of hyaluronic, macro and biomimetic fragments, combined with natural fruit extracts. Once our skin was feeling fresh and hydrated, we finished our spa experience in the private patio.
Now that we were feeling zen and relaxed it was lunch time! We split the mixed berry salad and a grilled chicken sandwich at Elevations.
After lunch we were off to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, which is just a short drive from the resort. Mom and I have been to many zoos in our lives and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is easily the most amazing zoo we’ve ever been to. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is America’s only mountainside zoo! With an elevation of 6,800 feet above sea level, this zoo covers 140 acres and is home to more than 750 animals.
The African Rift Valley exhibit was by far my favorite exhibit at this marvelously unique and intimate zoo! Home to the largest giraffe herd at any zoo, here we were able to hand feed these beautiful animals! As a fanatical animal lover, this was one of the most amazing experiences ever!
For dinner that evening, we went to 503w- a bar & kitchen with an extensive craft beer menu & creative, Asian-inspired gastropub food. Just a quick drive from the resort, this gastropub has a warm, hip and inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed rosé, calamari, a beet salad and butternut squash raviolis.
Exhausted from our adventure packed day, we went straight to bed after dinner.
Day 3 in Colorado Springs:
We started day three just like day 2- with hot coffee on our beautiful patio. We were so sad it was our last morning at Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
After our coffee with a view, we visited Mountain View Restaurant for their breakfast buffet. The beautiful views made our breakfast even better.
After breakfast, we were off to Manitou Springs. Our first stop was the Manitou Cliff Dwellings and we were in for a treat! The Manitou Cliff Dwellings are a group of Anasazi cliff dwellings located just a short drive from the resort. The Anasazi lived and roamed the Four Corners area of the Southwestern United States from 1200 B.C. to A.D. 1300 and these cliff dwellings are a must see!
After our cliff dwellings exploration we were off to Manitou Springs for lunch and a little more exploration. Before lunch we wanted to try the mineral springs. There are 8 springs located around the town of Manitou. Rainwater and melted snow from the surrounding mountains soak into rock fractures and as the water penetrates the earth it becomes naturally heated, mineralized and carbonated. Because the water takes thousands of years to complete its journey from mountain to the fountains throughout Manitou, it is completely free of contamination. We tried 4 of the 8 springs and had a fun time roaming the town looking for the ornate fountains. I recommend bringing an empty water bottle to sample the tasty water!
Next we were off to The Loop, a Mexican restaurant, for lunch. We feasted on skinny margaritas, guacamole and chips and steak and chicken fajitas!
After lunch we went back to the resort for our final good byes and wondered why we had to leave Cheyenne Mountains resort and Colorado Springs.
Thank you to Cheyenne Mountain Resort for your hospitality and amazing accommodations and to Visit COS for providing such a wonderful list of things to do in your beautiful city of Colorado Springs. We can’t wait to return!
Kisses and travel wishes,
