“Family, friends, food and football.”
To me, the best part about food ball season is the grub you get to enjoy while watching the game. Today I am sharing an easy recipe for game day.
“Honey, is there something you want to say before football season?” –Every man in America
It’s football season… which means amazing tailgate food and all Walker wants to talk about is fantasy football. Now if you’re anything like me, besides wanting to look cute at tailgates, you don’t really care about the sport. So while your man is complaining about a holding call… eat this dip and you and your honey will both be happy campers.
“He was a wise man who invented beer.” -Plato
Oktoberfest starts tomorrow so today I am sharing two of my favorite German recipes with you- schnitzel and purple sauerkraut. Walker LOVES schnitzel so I make this meal for him all the time. Just add some mustard and beer and you’re all set for a festive Oktoberfest at home.
GET FESTIVE
“Roses are red. Mud is brown. ‘Round here we party with our tailgate down.”-Earl Dibbles Jr.
The NFL football season begins this Sunday! Walker can hardly contain his excitement. And me? I’m just excited for the tv side food! Today I am sharing a great football season recipe. Tailgate or in your living room, these poppers will for sure be winners!
Stay tuned for more great football season recipes!
GET IN THE SPIRIT:
“Life without Mexican food is no life at all.” -Unknown
Mexican lasagna is a go to in my house. Looking back, I think it was actually the first meal I ever made Walker and since then I’ve made it a couple dozen times. Today I’m sharing this recipe plus my Spanish “fried rice” recipe and I hope you enjoy!
MAKE IT A FIESTA:
“One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.” -Unknown
I am off to Belize in a few days so I am in the vacation mood… which means cocktail time! I came up with this cocktail while I was in Cabo with my girls a few weeks ago. It’s not only refreshing, but it has a lot less calories and sugar than a traditional margarita using premade mix. Enjoy!
“I am an explorer of foods.” -Erma Bombeck
Thai food is a favorite of Walker’s and mine. We get Thai take-out more that we probably even want to admit. This dish is a simple recipe you can make out home and forgo the take-out. I made this spicy peanut dish for him while he was studying for The Bar and I received rave reviews!
COOK IN STYLE:
“My food is Louisiana, New Orleans-based. Well seasoned. Rustic.” -Emeril Lagasse
Walker loves red beans and rice so I decided to take a stab at it. I used brown rice and turkey andouille sausage to make this dish healthier than its traditional recipe. Not counting calories? Use this same recipe but sub in regular andouille and white rice. The spicy sausage and hearty beans make this dish the perfect meal.
